People's Park for Nature Community Meeting

What if We Bought Land for Nature – Together?

Imagine a vibrant wild space at the heart of the People’s Park for Nature — a Park Headquarters, owned and shaped by the community.

A place where people and nature thrive side by side. Where birds of prey soar overhead, wetlands brim with life, and native plants grow in abundance, providing food, craft materials and beauty.

What if this space wasn’t just an idea, but something we could create together?

At a recent People’s Park Directors meeting, a powerful idea took root: to explore community land ownership as a way to establish a Park HQ that would be a beacon for nature recovery, learning, connection and joy.

A space blossoming with nature that could welcome thousands of visitors every year. That could provide meaningful jobs, training opportunities, and new ways to live well with the land.

We’re holding an open community meeting to explore this exciting possibility.

We’ll look at potential sites, discuss funding ideas (from grants to community shares), and dream together about what this Park HQ could be — and how it could showcase rewilding, permaculture, community, and hope.

We know it’s possible. Across the UK, communities are stepping up to buy land and restore it for future generations. From Langholm to the Lower Chew Valley, people are reimagining the landscapes they live in — and making those dreams real.

Join us for this first step. Come with your ideas, your energy, your “What ifs.”
Thursday 17th July 1pm - 5pm

This meeting is open to everyone in the People’s Park community, which, if you’re reading this, includes you, my friend.

As a C.I.C (community interest company) you, the community, are naturally at the heart of everything we’re doing, and your voices and ideas play an important part in steering the park toward the wilder future we envision. Naturally, we hope to see you there!
