Enjoolata Localisation Day Celebration!
The localisation movement is growing stronger. Across the world, people are speaking out against the global economy that is playing havoc with our lives and destroying our shared planet. Simultaneously, millions of us are engaged in rebuilding healthy local economies, communities and food systems.
This June, we’re taking over The Old Market for an evening that brings together our partners, friends, and curious members of the public for good food, great conversations, and a proper sense of shared energy.
Localisation can feel like a big nebulous idea, but we want to show you how tangible it really is. You’ll see it in the food on your plate, the people running stalls, the conversations at your table, and the organisations choosing to show up for their communities every day.

There’ll be a three-course meal from Sussex Surplus, with deserts from The Network of International Women Brighton & Hove, so you already know you’re in safe hands on the food front. Around the space, we’ll have artwork from Clear Canvas, Enjoolata Charity Market Stalls (read on to find out how to apply for a table)and at some point in the evening we’ll pause for a short film from Local Futures exploring the power of engaging locally.
Your ticket will come with a drink of your choice, and it also gets you into our raffle. We’re matching all ticket income, and the total pot will be split between three winners, who each get to choose a charity to donate it to! There’ll also be a secondary raffle packed with prizes from brilliant local businesses and organisations, so plenty of chances to walk away with something good.
This is where you come in…
We’d like to set up a small run of market-style tables for Enjoolata partners who want to share what they do in a more visible, interactive way. Whether that’s selling something, showcasing your work, starting conversations, or creating a little moment for people to step into, we’re really open to all your ideas. The room will be full, the vibe will be warm, and there’ll be lots of time for proper face-to-face connection.
